"Out of the Box" - Scene Study for the Professional Actor, by John D'Aquino - July 11 - 13

Thirty year acting veteran, JOHN D'AQUINO currently occupies the Oval Office as President Richard Martinez on Disney Channel's hit comedies CORY IN THE HOUSE and HANNAH MONTANA.

As fate would have it, John used to live next door to the White House on Comedy Central's satire THAT'S MY BUSH (created by South Park's Trey Parker and Matt Stone), playing "Larry," George W's favorite neighbor. John also created trouble for the administration as White House investigative reporter "Stuart Dunston" on J.A.G. as politics, for better or for worse, seems to be a consistent theme in his career.

Thankfully, John's infamous episode of SEINFELD was anything but political and like other comedic turns on NBC’s 3RD ROCK FROM THE SUN, USA’s WANDA DOES IT or Showtime’s WEEDS, John manages to enjoy the grass on both sides of the theatrical fence.

His six television series and numerous guest star appearances include SHARK, CROSSING JORDAN, Spielberg's seaQuest DSV, QUANTUM LEAP, MELROSE PLACE, MATLOCK, MURDER SHE WROTE, MAGNUM P.I., THE DIRTY DOZEN, SHADES OF L.A. among many others.

A protégé and longtime friend of the recently departed comic and theatrical genius, Charles Nelson Reilly, John attributes his success to the tutelage of his master teacher who inspired him to co-write STIFF CUFF'S, a romantic comedy (Baker Plays), his solo show ITALIAN 101, multiple television shows and conceive and direct his latest short film, PAPER FACES, a psychological drama set in Venice, Italy.

By far, John’s greatest joy has been experienced traveling the U.S. and abroad delivering his brand of life coaching through his Manifesting Life Successes through Performance series of seminars to children, teens and adults.

Alex Marquez
July 3rd, 2008, 7:00-9:30

“Guerilla Filmmaking: Making Your Own Movie in South Florida ”

lGuerrilla filmmaking refers to a form of independent filmmaking characterized by low budgets, skeleton crews, and simple props using whatever is available. Often scenes are shot quickly in real locations without any warning, and some times without even obtaining permission from the owners of the locations.

Guerrilla filmmaking is usually done by independent filmmakers because they don't have the budget to get insurance or permits, rent out locations, or build expensive sets.

This presentation will be a discussion open to everyone who wants to make their own film and refuses to hear “no” for an answer. Filmmakers and actors will learn new ways how to communicate their message while relating to each other on set, sometimes under the most extreme circumstances in the industry.

By sharing his own anecdotes and techniques, Palm Beach County filmmaker V. Alex Marquez will discuss with the audience his experiences shooting a feature film in only 9 days, while working with over 20 actors and shooting over 20 locations with a $10,000 budget.

The class will also discuss how to be ahead of the game as you organize producing, writing and directing your own no-budget short-film.

Alex Marquez, who also wrote, produced, and stared in the film, has completed over fifteen short films and music videos during his career. Born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela, at age seventeen Alex moved to Florida, where he attended Palm Beach Community College and Florida Atlantic University, receiving an Associate in Arts degree and a Bachelors degree in Communication respectively. Alex's 2004 short film "Normal" received top honors at the 2004 Voices of Local Film award ceremony, as a part of the Palm Beach International Film Festival. He was awarded The Student Showcase of Film Award in 1999 and 2000 by the Palm Beach International Film Festival. In 2005, Alex Marquez produced and directed the music video "Bailando" for rock band Van Solo working with a zero budget, yet this music video has been in rotation in "MTV Latino" for the last few years. Alex has started to become well known for his writing and directing style, highlighting laymen's idiosyncrasies and zooming into them indiscreetly. Alex Marquez currently resides in Boca Raton, Florida.
